At the heart of an organization’s success is a diversity of dedicated employees who, day after day, work together, with their partners, with their customers and with their community, all with a common goal of preserving the integrity of the company.
Since the inception of LANDRY and associates in 2008, we have supported diversity and inclusion in our workplace. As an organization that identifies itself as a multidisciplinary enterprise, it seems natural that our company should be made up of a team of multigenerational individuals of multicultural and multi-ethnic origin. Here we are now almost 15 years later, in 2020, a year that continues to challenge us and push us both individually and collectively. As we reflect on everything that is happening in the world, it is very difficult for us to imagine where LANDRY and associates would be without the various personalities, life experiences, visions and passions that each member of our team brings as added value. We understand the importance of diversity and inclusion, and this year only confirms that.
While it is no secret that diversity in organization contributes to financial success, it is really only a very small part of the equation. The evolution and individual learning of each of us is largely through the varied knowledge and skills of the people around us. The strength of a group is in its ability to bring ideas and experiences different from our own. How can we be stimulated, motivated and curious to know more when we are surrounded by people whose perceptions and visions are the same as our own? Have you ever tried to have a brainstorming session alone? When we think alone, it is more difficult to bring many ideas and initiatives to the table from different angles and points of view. The reality is that the ideas generated alone are quite limiting and we always end up with the same vision, of a single state of mind, which is generated by a single type of past.
Diversity in the workplace creates more balanced individuals and helps us perform better on all fronts. Having a diverse team means having the opportunity to listen to different thoughts from different types of people. This creates an opportunity to combine ideas, resulting in innovation. Diversity in the workplace also makes workdays much more enjoyable, but that’s just our opinion!
Our achievements. Our successes. Our celebrations. Our victories. Each of these accomplishments would not be possible without the individuals who make up our team. For this, we are grateful and we remain committed to putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of our values.
